Dad Program Run By A Dad & A Mental Health Professional
Parenting Sucks Sometimes
Program Overview: The "Parenting Sucks Sometimes" program is a safe, judgment-free space for fathers to connect, share experiences, and receive advice. It is tailored for dads who are navigating the challenges of parenting and might feel isolated or unsure of where to turn for help.
Weekly Meetings
We will host weekly online meetings designed for fathers to ask questions, seek advice, and openly discuss mental health and parenting issues. These meetings are confidential and facilitated by a mental health professional, ensuring a supportive environment where all participants feel comfortable and respected.
Key Messages
Many existing online dad groups can foster feelings of judgment or provide misleading advice. Our program counters this by offering professional support in a welcoming, confidential setting. We acknowledge that parenting can be difficult, and we provide a space where it's okay to admit that it sometimes "sucks." We emphasize that it's natural to struggle and that no question or problem is too small.
Personal Story
As the founder of this program, I want to share my own experiences on the website. I am a father who has faced mental health challenges, particularly postnatal depression after the birth of my second child. Through therapy and support, I’ve overcome these challenges and have found joy in parenting (most days!). My journey inspires me to help other dads who may be going through similar struggles, and I hope to provide them with the tools and guidance to do the same.
